Obituary
Elnora Baumann Hultgren, 90, of Spearfish, SD, died Thursday, November 1st 2007 at her home.
Inurnment will take place at 12:00PM on Friday, November 23, 2007 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD, and a memorial service will follow at 2:00PM at United Church of Christ in Spearfish, with Pastor Peg Grzelkowski officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to a charity of one's choice, preferably local charities. Elnora was born December 28, 1916 to Gus and Alma (Bauer) Baumann on the family homestead near Dupree, SD. She attended school in Dupree, moving to Spearfish in 1930. She graduated from Spearfish High School in 1935 and worked at the telephone office in Spearfish. Elnora married Loyd Hultgren on June 2nd 1937. The couple was blessed with their son Bruce Page Hultgren. Elnora worked to help put Loyd through college in Spearfish and then Laramie, where he earned his master's degree. Loyd taught for 40 years in Wyoming and Iowa. They spent a number of years in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Upon retirement in 1973 the couple moved back to Spearfish.
Elnora was a loving wife and mother. She was a self taught painter. She painted many beautiful pictures. She was a member of the Spearfish United Church of Christ Congregational and a longtime member of the women's fellowship group. She was a member of PEO and an avid bridge player.
Elnora was preceded in death by her parents, her son Bruce, her husband Loyd, 3 brothers; Ingwald, Benton and L.R. (Bennie), and 2 sisters; Orgena and Vivalore. She is survived by one brother, Orie (Kathleen) Baumann of Coeur d'Alene, ID, nieces and nephews: JoAnn (Don) Barnett of Littleton, CO, Louise (Jerry) Chaffee of Sturgis, SD, Bonnie Baumann Harrison of Rapid City, SD, Kenny (Carol) Bean of Aurora, CO, Carol Bean (Jerry) Schaub of Marion, IA, and one dear sister-in-law Evallyn Baumann Wolf (spouse of the late Bennie) of Belle Fourche and other nieces and nephews in Idaho and Washington.
