Elmer Dale Jaeger, 97, of Gillette, WY, born February 28, 1929, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior, passing peacefully on Sunday April 12th, 2026. He spent his last days surrounded by family in Gillette, WY.
Dale was born February 28, 1929, in Imperial Nebraska to Edgar and Helen (Musick) Jaeger. Dale was one of eight children. Dale attended school in Wallace County, KS until the 8th grade when he had to stop attending to care for his mother and siblings on the family farm. He spent his younger years working on the family farm in Sharon Springs, Kansas.
Dale married Elma Scott, from this union brought forth four children, Carol (Randy) Dayhoff, Doug (Peggy) Jaeger, Corinne “Corky” Williams, and Cheryl (Jeff) Bryant. Dale cared for his wife Elma when she was diagnosed with cancer until she passed October 2, 1972. He then raised his children as a single father. Dale later remarried Iva Kay Hedlund, she passed October 21, 2011.
Dale enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed hunting for arrow heads in the Red Dessert, gardening, watching and feeding the wild birds, and wood working. He loved being around his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Teaching them how to shoot spit wads, having frosting and water fights in the house. He continued this behavior until he passed. Dale spent many years working in the oil field for numerous companies. Having a partnership with Antelope Oil. Ending with Cyclone Drilling, which he retired from twice.
Dale was always willing to lend a hand helping anyone who needed it. He was known for his excellent work ethic, honesty, kindness, big heart, and mischievousness.
Dale is survived by his children, Carol (Randy) Dayhoff, Doug (Peggy) Jaeger, Corinne “Corky” Williams, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Helen, brother Eddie, Sister Barbra, twin sisters that passed at birth, sister Marjorie, his wife Elma, his second wife Iva Kay, daughter Cheryl Bryant, son-in-law Jeff Bryant, and step granddaughter.
A celebration of life will be at the WPA building on April 21st from 11:00AM to 1:00PM.
