Ella Marie Schloe, 86 of Spearfish died Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Spearfish Hospital.
Ella was born November 8, 1936, to Oliver and Rose (Juven) Gibson in Valley Springs, SD. She grew up there and attended school through high school. She then attended South Dakota State University, Brookings SD, graduating with a teaching degree. She married Kenneth Dollman, and they had two children Wayne and Paul. Ella moved to Lead, SD, and was a teacher there for several years. She was united in marriage to Hugo "Junior" Schloe on June 1, 1974, at the Chapel in the Hills in Rapid City. They moved to Spearfish and owned and operated the Jughouse Liquor for 13 years. Ella worked for Homestake Mining Company for many years before retiring.
Ella loved volunteering at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, specialty with the quilting club, and made many lovely quilts.
She is survived by her granddaughter Brandi Epperly and her son Logan Epperly; grandson Jason (Tracy) and their children Candence, Torren and Kenley; sister Cathy (James) LeDuc; sisters-in-law Sarah (Mike) Birnbaum and Helen Scrivanich; brothers-in-law Glen Schloe, Paul Schloe, James Schloe, Simon (Karen) Schloe, and Robert Rodeen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons Wayne Dollman and Paul Dollman; husband Hugo "Junior" Schloe; sisters-in-law Marie Rodeen, Luceil Faeth, Viola Schager, Elaine Benner, Jackie Schloe, and Sharon Schloe.
Memorial services will be held Friday at 10:30 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Spearfish with burial at 1:00 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis SD.
