Ella Iszler, 98 of Spearfish, SD died on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the David M. Dorsett Healthcare Center in Spearfish.
Memorial Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish, with Pastor Bob Totino officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 P.M. at Bowman Cemetery in Bowman, ND with Pastor Jerry Erickson officiating. A luncheon will follow at Jabr's Café following the burial.
Ella was born on September 17, 1913 in New Leipzig, ND to Reinhold and Matilda Werre. She was reared on the family farm near New Leipzig and attended elementary school there. She married George Iszler on June 26, 1932 at the Lutheran Church in New Leipzig. They lived on a farm near there until 1946 when they purchased Ella's parents farm south of Bowman. They farmed and ranched there until retirement in 1964 when they moved into Bowman. Ella worked at the Sunset Home in Bowman for several years. She also worked hard raising her family and farm work without modern conveniences. She loved raising a nice garden, flowers, visiting, playing cards and always had a nice smile for everyone. Ella was a member of Bowman Lutheran Church. In 1998 she moved to Dickinson where she was a member of the Lutheran Church. In 2007 she moved into Ponderosa Apartments in Spearfish, where she lived until the last eleven days of her life. She was loved by all her family and friends and will be missed but not forgotten.
Survivors include her three sons and daughters-in-law, Bernard and Laura Iszler of Spearfish, Marvin and Marilyn Iszler of Sun City, AZ, Melvin and Babs Iszler of New Prague, MN; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Edward Fried of Mobridge, SD and Linda and Richard Wiles of Oppelo, AR; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Theodore, Aaron, Bernard and Edmond Werre, and sister, Freida Nelson.
