Eleanor Martina Welch, 78, a long-time resident of Moorcroft, passed away Friday the 15th of June 2012 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital after a bout with cancer.
Born on September 6, 1933 in Loyal, Wisconsin, she grew up on a dairy farm near Loyal with six brothers and three sisters.
Eleanor graduated from Loyal High School in 1951, and shortly thereafter moved to Milwaukee and gained employment with the Harnischfeger Corporation as a secretary. After two years in Milwaukee, she made the move to San Bernardino, California, and worked at Fontana High School for several years. It was here that she met Jack Welch, and they were married on March 7, 1959. In 1963, they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where they raised their four children until moving back to Loyal, Wisconsin in 1972. In 1975, the family moved to Moorcroft, Wyoming where Eleanor resided until her passing.
Blessed with a strong will and great passion for life, Eleanor stayed very active until health issues slowed her down later in life. She disliked being idle, and loved camping, exploring, cooking, bowling, and later in life, playing bingo. Not caught up in material things, she was quick to give to others . Eleanor was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend and will be dearly missed.
