Elbert Otis Zimmerschied, 94, son of Fred and Leona (Eaton) Zimmerschied, was born on April 18, 1918 at the family ranch on Cabin Creek near Carlile WY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.
A life-long resident of Crook County Wyoming, Elbert spent his early years working on the family ranch, then as a hired hand for several local ranchers.
On November 27, 1943, at Broadus, Montana, Elbert married Neda Robinson. The young couple moved to their own ranch on Cabin Creek the 19th of January, 1945. There they embarked on full and happy lives in the livestock business. Elbert was privileged to lead the life of a true Wyoming rancher "My Ranch-My Rules". There for more than six decades, Elbert enjoyed his work, his family and his community.
A charter member of the Oshoto Community Bible Church, Elbert loved the Lord and felt wonderfully blessed throughout his lifetime.
In April 2009, he moved to the Sundance Assisted Care Center where he continued to live until shortly before his death.
Elbert is survived by his four children; Robert (Janet) Zimmerschied of Buffalo, WY, Barbara (Bob) Crowl of Tucson, AZ, Carol Strong of Oshoto, WY and Clint (Linda) Zimmerschied of Tucson, AZ; six grandchildren George (Carla) Strong, Shondah (Randall) Otwell, Ty (Hillary) Zimmerschied, Dustin (Tiffany) Zimmerschied, Jessica (Sam) Little and Sara (Ray) Acord; eleven great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws Grace Zimmerschied and Julia Zimmerschied; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Neda, son-in-law George Strong; brothers, Wilbur (Edna), Robert, George, Howard and Art; and sisters, Isabel (Tex) Davis, Freda (Roy) Shoemake and Vera Zimmerschied.
Visitation will be from 6:00-7:30 P.M. on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel in Sundance, WY. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Oshoto Community Bible Church in Oshoto, WY with Pastor Charles E. Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Moorcroft Cemetery in Moorcroft, WY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Oshoto Community Bible Church.
