Obituary

Elanor (Stomprud) Pearson 94 was born June 1st, 1918, Sulfur, South Dakota to Ollie and Winnie Stomprud. She wed David Car Lyle Pearson on her family ranch at Sulfur, South Dakota on March 1st 1941.

She passed into the welcoming arms of the Lord, September 11th, 2012, at her home in Spearfish, SD, surrounded by her loving family.

She was a devout Christian and longtime member of the Spearfish United Methodist Church, UMC Joy Circle, UMW, holding most positions over the years. Her two favorite were Sunday school teaching and co-originator of the biker breakfast.

She was a quiet, yet dynamic woman, an extensive volunteer in the community, including meals on wheels, Girl Scout brownies, Eastern Star, VFW Women's Auxiliary and many others.
She graduated of Newell High School. She exited the Normal School (BHSU) with a teacher's certificate. She taught in Vale, Spearfish, and the surrounding area.
She opened a home for veterans from Fort Meade, operating the home for 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Winnie, her husband, Lyle, daughter, Winnie, son, David, and nephew, Vern Stomprud.

She is survived by her brother, Chester Stomprud of Mud Butte, SD, brother, Calvin Stomprud (Mable), of Sulfur, SD, son, John (Kris) of Spearfish, daughter, Ellie Mitzel, Spearfish, and daughter, Mary Kelly (Mike) Haley, Idaho, David's wife, Betsy Pearson, North Pole, Alaska. She assisted in mothering Angela Bradford, Haley, Idaho and Skye Mitzel, Spearfish. She has grand, great-grand and great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elanor was a gift from God to this world and her family. It is with extreme joy and sadness we place her hand in his to return home.
Having shared in her life we take pride in being known as her children, family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church, Tuesday the 18th at 7pm reception to follow.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Asa Pearson, Tom Pearson, Brenda Arthur, Josh Pearson, Marcella Sawyer, Misty Mitzel, Shawn Mitzel, Angela Bradford, Suzie Pearson, Skye Mitzel, and Tammy Polansky.
