Obituary

Elaine Butterfield Robidou, 92 of Spearfish, SD formerly of Deadwood, SD went home to rest with the Lord Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Belle Fourche Health Care Center in Belle Fourche, SD.

She was born December 22, 1924 in Hettinger, ND, daughter of Walter N. and Ruth M. Butterfield. Elaine grew up on a farm near Lodgepole, SD and attended school in Hettinger, ND. She graduated from Hettinger High School in 1941. After graduation from the Minnesota School of Business, Minneapolis, MN in 1942, Elaine worked for the S.D. Stockgrowers Assoc. in Rapid City, SD. She married Wallace "Wally" Robidou February 2, 1958. They moved to Denver, CO and later returned to Deadwood. She worked as Secretary for the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office for Sheriffs Dick McGrath and Chuck Crotty from 1964 until her retirement in 1990. In 2015 she moved to Edgewood Vista Assisted Living in Spearfish, SD. We are forever grateful for their watchful eye and care.

Elaine was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Deadwood, President of the SD Women's Bowling Association and Life Member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary in Deadwood. She loved to bowl and could often be found at the local bowling alley, across the state or country either bowling or running a tournament. She was fond of spending time volunteering at the Deadwood VFW for all sorts of events and missed very few Wednesday "burger nights." She loved to read and kept lists of the books she read and those she planned to read.

Survivors include her daughters, Laurie (Rick) McBride, Spearfish, SD, Margaret Damore, Grayslake, IL, Linda Sharp and Sharon (Keith) Tabler, Rapid City, SD; Grandchildren Aaron (Angie) Eide, Fort Benning, GA, Joe Damore, Lake Villa, IL, Nicole Damore, Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Joe (JoJo) Allen, Blackhawk, SD, Jay (Jhanda) Allen, Box Elder, SD, Angie Williamson (Richard) Graske, Montgomery, MN, and Richard (Sheri) Williamson, Rapid City, SD; and 16 Great-Grandchildren.

Elaine is preceded in death by her husband, Wally; her parents, 1 son-in-law, and 2 grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

A memorial has been established to St. John's Episcopal Church in Deadwood and the American Cancer Society.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Deadwood. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at 2:00pm at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
