Elaine H. Golay (95) was born on December 24, 1913, in Minden, Nebraska, to Chris L. and Clara Christensen. Her early life was spent in Minden where she graduated from high school. In 1934 she married Donald C. Golay. To this union two sons were born - Robert in 1938 and Ronald in 1940. She and Don farmed for a number of years in the Minden area and then in South Dakota.
For a number of years Elaine was in retail sales in Rochester, MN, Sidney, NE, Ft. Collins and Boulder, CO. While working in Boulder, CO, she met and married Dallas Sieckmann. They lived in Boulder and wintered several years at Golden Vista Resort in Apache Junction, AZ.
Elaine moved to Spearfish, SD, in 2004 where she lived at Edgewood Vista until her death on March 13, 2009. Elaine loved to cook and garden and do handiwork. She grew beautiful roses, and was known for the many beautiful wedding cakes she baked, including the one she did for Robert and Ardis' wedding. She was also an avid Bronco football fan! She loved her family dearly; she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her two sons, Robert (Ardis) and Ronald, three grandchildren, Kim Croft, Kelly (Bill) Deis, and Troy (Melissa) Golay, and six great-grandchildren, Landon, Loagon, Layton Croft, Erin Croft Bloecher and Garrett and Ryan Crotty. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of life will be held at 2PM Sunday May 3, 2009 in the chapel at Edgewood Vista, 540 Falcon Crest Dr. Spearfish, SD.
