Einar E. Carlson, 94, of Rapid City formerly of Spearfish died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Clarkson Mountain View Healthcare.

Funeral Services for Einar will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 7, 2010 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish, SD. Sister Susan Pohl, chaplain for Clarkson Mountain View Healthcare, officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Naja Temple Shriners and Clarkson Mountain View Healthcare.

Einar was born in Norway, MI to Eric and Sigrid (Kindberg) Carlson October 6, 1915. At the age of five, the family moved to Lead, SD, where Einar graduated from high school in 1933. Shortly after graduation he went to work in the mechanical department at Homestake Mining Company, where he worked for the next 49 years. On March 26, 1938 Einar married the love of his life Evelyn, they spent the next 70 years together. After Einar retired from Homestake, he and Evelyn moved to Spearfish in 1982. In January 2007 they moved to Rapid City, SD to be closer to their daughter Janice, he then entered Clarkson Mountain View Healthcare in 2009. Einar was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge, having been a past Master, he was also active as a NAJA Shriner for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and sang in the Lead United Methodist Church choir.

Einar is survived by his two daughters, Janice Beaird of Rapid City, SD and JoAnn (Kenneth) Carbaugh of Santa Ana, CA. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Rodger (Robyn) Beaird, Rapid City, SD, Pam (Jim) Tiltrum, Hermosa, SD, Daniel (Susanna) Carbaugh, Laguna Niguel, CA, Joseph (Chelsee) Carbaugh, Irvine, CA seven great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Evelyn, brother Robert and son-in-law Ronald Beaird.
