Edwin Cook Tripp III, 96, Spearfish, SD went to be with our Lord on Saturday morning, June 23, 2012 at David M. Dorsett Healthcare Center.
Edwin was born in Los Angeles, CA on December 10, 1915 and went to school in Oakland College in Berkley, CA. He moved to Limo Peree to work at Penogia Airlines, as an aeronautical engineer. He married Olga Glidden in 1950 in Lima Peru and to this marriage two children were born, John and Wendy. They lived in Peru for ten years, then moved to Santa Monica, CA and then to Long Beach, CA. Ed worked at Douglas Air Craft, and Martin Mariata.
He lost his wife in 1972 and married Irene Dixon in 1975. They lived in Gardena CA until his retirement, then moved to Concord, CA in 1978. Ed and Irene traveled allot, enjoying their retirement. He liked cameras, and was a wonderful photographer, always taking pictures of their travels, families and friends.
He was intrigued with all kinds of transportation, especially The Bay Area Rapid Transit, (Bart). He rode on Bart allot going to San Francisco for walks, shopping and taking his company there. Due to failing health problems, they moved to Spearfish to be near relatives, for tender loving care, snow falling, leaves and family gatherings, holidays, birthdays and dinners out.
He enjoyed living in the Black Hills with many rides through the hills and canyons, so different than city living.
He is survived by his wife, Irene, of Spearfish; sister Louise, of Oakland CA; son, John (Robin) Tripp, daughter, Wendy (Larry) McNelley, both of California; four grandchildren all of California. Also his loving nieces Alice (Jerry) Spargur, of Spearfish, Donna Halstead, of Gillette, WY and Paula Halstead, of Beulah, WY; sister-in-law Clara Christensen, of Spearfish; and brother-in-law Paul Wiessner, of Palos Verdes, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin Tripp II and Irene Tripp, his brother Billy and His first wife, Olga.
Memorial Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel.
