Another bright star, Edwin Arionus, 81, of Spearfish, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at home with his family at his side.

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Funeral services will be held onWednesday, May 12, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place at 1:30 PM at Black Hills National Cemetery, near Sturgis, SD.

Edwin was born to Edwin & Mildred (Nelson) Arionus, Sr. on October 8, 1928, he attended school in Lead until the age of 13 and moved to California with his parents to work in the ships yards during the war. He attended school in California for 3 more years before returning to Lead and graduating from high school in 1946. He served in the Army for 2 years where he met and married LaVerne Penitel. He worked for many years at the Lawrence Livermore Lab and after retirement came back to the hills, and married Raetta Enderby on September 21, 1991.

Ed loved fishing, swimming and long drives throught the hills. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to benefit The American Heart Association.

Ed is survived by his wife Raetta; sister Donna Scott; brother Steve (Barbara) Arionus, of CA; son Keith (Rhonda) Arionus; step-sons Steve and Jim Geffre; step-daughter Cindy Gerleman. He is preceded in death by his first wife, LaVerne; sisters Betty, Marcia, MiMi and Mary all of CA.
