Eddy Vrana, 86, of Upton, WY passed away peacefully at his home, with his wife Thelma by his side, on October 13, 2014.
Edward "Eddy" Vrana was born on February 27, 1928 to Czechoslovakia Immigrants Joseph and Antonia (Hradek) Vrana as a first generation American. He attended rural school and went on his own at about 15 years of age, his first employment working for a delivery service. No matter what he did he, he was happiest driving somewhere, which he did, driving a Pepsi truck, bentonite truck, an eventually a gravel truck. He enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 20 and spent most of his time in the hospital and received a medical discharge. He also enjoyed tinkering with old cars and small motors. He could take one apart and put it back together without having extra pieces when finished.
He married Thelma Lester on June 12, 1952 and they spent 62 years together. In their marriage, five children were born, Virginia, George, Delila, Joseph and Diana. In 1969, they moved their family to Upton where they spent the rest of their time together. He worked highway construction and drove truck. Eddy retired in 1991 because of heart problems.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma; children Virginia (Dick) Claar Ehman of Gillette, WY, George (Bettie) Vrana of Upton, Delila (Mike) Anderson of Upton, Joseph (Beverly) Vrana of Upton and Diana (Tom) McMillan of Upton; 13 grandchildren and their spouses; 22 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild due in March of 2015 and many extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Melvin and George; sister, Virginia and his precious grandson, Shawn Brown.
