Edward D. Pierce, 73, Spearfish, SD formerly of Lead, died Thursday, July 09, 2015 at Lead-Deadwood Regional Hospital in Deadwood.
Ed was born April 29, 1942 to Frank and Lottie (Steele) Pierce in Rapid City. He then attended school in Deadwood, dropping out during high school to join the Army. He then served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. While serving in the army, he married Linda Roberts in Deadwood. After being honorably discharged from the army, they returned to the Deadwood area. He then became a miner at the Homestake Gold Mine until retiring after many years. He later worked at the Broadway Parking Ramp in Deadwood, a job he greatly enjoyed.
Ed is survived by his children, Dion Pierce, Spearfish, Cinnamon (Mary) Pierce, Rapid City, Jubillee Pierce, Casper, WY; five grandchildren, Zachary , Mackalyn, Charitee, Sadie and Kash; siblings, Larry (Colleen) Pierce, Deadwood, Ronnie (Kathy) Pierce, Upton, WY, Judy (Dale) Hanson, Kenmare, ND, Terry (Alexis) Pierce, Rapid City. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda; sister, Shirley.
Graveside Services for Ed will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. There will be a luncheon following the service at the Deadwood VFW. Military Honors will be provided by the Spearfish Honor Guard.
Arrangements are under the care of Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel in Lead.
