Edward Lee Nelson, 82, Spearfish, SD. Ed was born at Terry Gulch on December 29, 1932 and went to be with the Lord on September 13, 2015 at Rapid City Regional Hospital of Pulmonary Disease.

He graduated from Lead High School in 1953, and worked at Homestake Mining Company for 36 years. Ed married Mary Jane Drake on August 11, 1955 they celebrated 60 years of marriage this past August.
Ed liked to hunt, fish and camp with family in a tent or RV. Breakfast was always the best, when he cooked it outside on the grill. He loved cooking pasties and bread always sharing with family and friends. His grandchildren always requested his hamburgers with beer; they were a hit with all. He enjoyed conversation with all his grandchildren on the phone. Sunday was football day he always had to bet with Brock on who would win with the Broncos. He also watched wrestling with grandson, Maverick. A beer at Happy Jacks, or Grant Street with friends, Vic, Soup and Art was an enjoyable fun afternoon for him.

Ed is survived by wife Mary, daughters, Alicia (Tim) Heckel and Maralee (Bob) Detimore, grandchildren; Maverick, Ashley and MacKenzie, brother, Charon "Bud" Nelson and sister, Donna Bruining.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Vivian Nelson, siblings; William, Shirley, Billy D, Peggy, Frank Jr, James, LaVerne, Mary Jo, Doris, Nels, Douglas, and Betty and grandson; Brock Heckel.
