Obituary

Two things happened on May 22nd 1927. Charles Lindberg entered the history books by landing in Paris after crossing the Atlantic and Edward George Curran entered this world in Chicago. Ed left this world to go to God on June 5th 2014.

At age 3, his family moved to Terraville, SD. He graduated from Lead High School in 1945. Ed had said two events ended the war against Japan; the dropping of the bombs and Ed Curran enlisting in the Navy, assigned to Fleet Post Office on Guam. After discharge from the Navy he returned to Lead and began working as a carpenter at the Homestake Mine. He and Luella Johnson were married on August 14, 1949. Two children, Sherry and Stephen were born to the marriage.

In October 1969, Ed joined the Forest Service and helped build and maintain the Nemo Job Corps Center. In 1978, he transferred to Fort Collins, Colorado and learned to maintain the air conditioning system for an area computer center.

Upon retirement in 1989 they moved back to Spearfish, South Dakota. He became active at Our Savior's Lutheran Church and worked part time at the Canyon Hills Center.

Ed is survived by his sister, Charlotte (Wade) Miller, Boone, NC; daughter, Sherry (Jim) Blackwell, Box Elder, SD; son, Stephen (Kim), Taos NM;granddaughter, Stephanie Blackwell and great-granddaughter Emma Skeen of Rapid City, SD; brother-in-law Fred (Joann) Johnson, Blaine, MN; several nephews and nieces and a special friend, Margaret Tusha, Spearfish, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Dorothy Curran and his wife Luella.

Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday June 11 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
