Edward Evans "Mike" Bushnell, 89, of Whitewood, was born on February 27, 1925 and passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014 at his home.

Mike, as he was known by everyone, spent his younger years in Newell and graduated from Lead High School. The Lead High School Championship football team of which Mike played tackle still holds the undefeated and untied record of their division today. Entering the Navy in 1942, Mike served our country through the end of World War II and settled in California, retiring in Whitewood when he was 74.

He is survived by his three daughters and seven grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Inurnment with Military Honors will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Black Hills National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Whitewood Volunteer Fire Department and Western Hills Humane Society.
