Edna Rose Walton passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020 in Spearfish, SD at the age of 67. May she celebrate the New Year in peace knowing she's left behind a legacy and memories, for those who knew her, to treasure.

Visitation will be from 5-6 pm on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Spearfish, SD. Vigil will follow at 6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Monday, January 6, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Spearfish. Edna will be laid to eternal rest at Rose Hill cemetery in Spearfish, SD.

Edna Rose was born November 4, 1952 to John and Catherine (Dutchuk) Gawrylow. She was the second of two children. She grew up contributing to the family farm near Belfield, ND. In 1970, she moved to Rapid City, SD to attend National College of Business. While in college she worked at St. John's McNamara Hospital, waitressed, and nannied for a local family. When she wasn't studying or working, she enjoyed touring the Black Hills, cruising around town, and attending dances. In college she met Kenneth Walton and the two were married July 22, 1972 in Belfield, ND at St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church. They lived in Aberdeen, followed by Kadoka, SD and both worked as EMTs for the local ambulance service. In addition, she worked as an assistant manager, census taker, Tupperware sales rep, a Girl Scout leader and was a member of the Ladies Alter Society. They and the family moved back to the Black Hills in 1988 where Edna, along with her husband, owned and operated an antique business. She had five children, three daughters and two sons, before moving the family to Spearfish, SD. In her children she instilled a strong work ethic, the importance of giving to others, while impressing upon all of us the value and blessing of a loving family.

Edna adored and loved her many grandchildren, decorating and celebrating all holidays, especially Christmas. She enjoyed collecting, arts and crafts projects, scrapbooking, and was a gifted storyteller. Most of all she cherished spending time with her family and friends.

Edna is survived by her husband, Ken, of 47 years; daughters: Katherine (Joe) Divis, Kimberly Walton, Karen (Dale) Frasier; sons: John (Jessica) Walton, James (Erica) Walton; grandchildren: Victoria (Richard), Christina, Alisha, Tyler, Nathan, Andrew, Joshua, Trevor, Trent, Jackson, Jonathan, Hannah, Winston, Luke, Eric (Angela), Sara (James), Brittney, Michael and Amanda (Zach); great-grandchildren: Harrison, Eathen, Jace, Rylan, Alaska, Hunter, BJ, Noah, Easton, Madelyn, Grace, Koen, Eladie; brother: Ed Gawrylow.
