Edna was born January 6, 1916 to Carl and Anna (Stoppel) Herber at Bayard, Nebraska. She moved with her family to the Red Water area as a girl and graduated from Spearfish High School in 1935. After training to be a beautician, she owned and operated a beauty salon in Buffalo, Wyoming. On September 8, 1941 she was married to Paul Lester Dahl in Sturgis, SD. Three sons were born during and after World War II.
Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister Anne Herber Hampton, two brothers Edwin Herber, and Ralph Herber.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Paul Dahl, sons Von (MaryAnn) Dahl of Buffalo, WY, Dennis (Carole) Dahl of Spearfish, SD, Gerald (special friend, Paula Halstead) of Belle Fourche, SD, and a sister-in-law Hilda (Dahl) Herber of MN. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Edna was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, and friend. She was known for her baby-tending, her contagious sense of humor and her meticulous appearance. Edna was neat, organized, and always remembered important dates. She knew the value of family and attended more concerts, ball games and car races, than she could count, Edna said, "If I had a nickel for every sandwich I made I'd be a rich women". She crafted Christmas ornaments annually for family members. Her beautiful penmanship spoke to the person that she was. Edna would want us to celebrate her life and count our blessings every day. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
