The family would like to invite friends to the Sundance Senior Center (220 N 2nd Street) following the service for lunch and fellowship.
Edith was born in her parent's one room homestead house at Lawver Road, southeast of Gillette on January 7, 1920, to Eldridge Glenn & Carrie Broyles. Edith attended rural school in Lawver. She graduated from Campbell County High School in 1938, taking Normal Training so she could teach.
She married Dale Mills, March 11, 1939, starting out in a "Sheep Wagon" herding the sheep, but soon moved into a two room home working with Dale's father and brothers ranching and raising children; 4 sons and 4 daughters. The spring of 1957 they moved to the ranch east of Gillette, where they ranched for the next 16 years. This family ranch is still a working ranch, owned and operated by their daughter Audyre. In 1974 Edith and Dale bought their final ranch, at the foot of beautiful Inyan Kara Mountain south of Sundance.
For 10 years Dale & Edith spent their winters in the warmer climate of ElCentro, CA,
enjoying all their friends there.
Edith was the kind of person we should all aspire to be. A true Christian she lived her belief in Jesus Christ everyday. A true kindness ran deep in this wife, mother, homemaker, grandmother, great grandmother, friend (the best you ever had) and neighbor. She is greatly missed by all that knew her.
Her Survivors who loved & respected her much, include her husband, Dale Mills of Sundance, eight children; Alyce Eskew (Bob) of Chaska, MN, Audrye Browen & Gary Tarver of Gillette, WY, Alda Ward (Mark) of Mesa, AZ, Ellory Mills (Kim) of Gillette, Anitta Smelser (Dean) of Gillette, Allen Mills (Cricket) of Sundance, Sam Mills of Gillette, Star Mills (Lisa) of Gillette, twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by two brothers, Richard (Lorraine) & Warren (Rae) Broyles, and one sister, Nettie Harris.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two grandchildren, Patrick and Crimson; Two daughters-in-law, Debbie and Kay; One son-in-law, Lance Browen.
Memorials are established to the Sundance Senior Center and Sundance Long Term Nursing Home with Fidler-Roberts & Isburg in charge of the arrangements.
