Douglas “Doug” Trinquero, 68, of Spearfish, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, May 9, at Rapid Memorial Hospital.

Doug was born to Frank and Betty Trinquero in Rockville, Maryland. As a teenager, with the guidance of family friends and neighbors, he learned the trade of residential furniture moving. After graduating from high school, he began what would become a lifelong career in the moving industry, working with both local and nationwide companies. His honesty, reliability, and strong work ethic earned him the respect of everyone who knew and worked with him.

In his early twenties, Doug married Susie Lippart, and together they welcomed their son, DJ (Douglas Jr.). They lived in Maryland, where they raised their son for more than twenty years. After their separation, Doug moved to Martinsburg, West Virginia, before relocating to Spearfish, South Dakota, in 2014, where he made his home.

Doug had a deep passion for hard work and helping others. Even beyond retirement, he stayed active by mowing lawns, shoveling snow, and lending a hand to his church family, friends, and neighbors whenever needed. He was also a longtime volunteer with the American Red Cross, serving both locally and regionally in disaster transportation and response.

His dedication earned him numerous honors, including the “You Make a Difference” Award for his service during Hurricane Irma in Georgia, the 2023 Central & Western South Dakota Chapter Disaster Cycle Services “Volunteer of the Year” Award for the Minnesota and Dakotas Region, and recognition for reaching 5,000 volunteer hours.

Doug also enjoyed collecting DVDs and model trucks, especially tractor-trailers and fire trucks. He loved watching the “oldies but goodies” — classic television shows from the 1960s and 1970s — and found joy in the simple comforts of familiar stories and memories.

Doug will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Betty Trinquero.

Doug is survived by his son, DJ (Mandy), and granddaughters Brianna, Mallory, and Bella; his siblings, William (Susan), Nancy, and Elaine (John); his nephews, Ryan, Paul (Katie), Mark (Dyllin), Andrew (Rachel), John (Elena), and Austin; and his nieces, Andrea (Mike), Amanda (Tony), and Lucy (Armin).

In lieu of flowers, his family suggests donations be made to either the American Red Cross or plant a tree in Doug's memory

Services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Northern Hills Church of Christ.
