Dorothy Dell McArthur, 80, Spearfish, died Friday, October 30, 2009, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
She was born August 3, 1929 in Lead, SD, to the late George Washington and Mary Sedwell Glover. The youngest of six children, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister Mary Hardy; and brothers George Glover and Quentin Glover. Survivors include her husband, Neil McArthur of Spearfish; her children; Hugh (Sue) of South Riding, VA, Leslie (Charlie) McArthur- Fox of Blacksburg, VA, Howard (Melissa) of Burke, VA and Heath (Lisa) of Bristow, VA; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Bill Glover of Lead and Lowell Glover of Pierre.
Graduating from Lead, she attended Black Hills State and the University of Northern Colorado, receiving degrees from both institutions. While in undergraduate school she was an active participant in college speech and drama activities and appeared in many theatrical productions.

Her professional involvement included teaching assignments in Lewistown, MT; Gillette, WY; Chadron, NE; Springfield, VA; and Spearfish, SD.

Dorothy was an avid reader, enjoyed numerous creative crafts, and loved to explore beaches along the east coast.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 2nd at All Angels Episcopal Church in Spearfish, with the Reverend Bunker Hill officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to All Angels Church, 1044 N. 5th, Spearfish, SD 57783, to support youth activities.
