Dorothy was born on July 18, 1933 in Spearfish to Ross and Jenny (Koski) Lynn. She grew up in Spearfish and graduated from Spearfish High School in 1951. She earned a teaching certificate at Black Hills Teachers College. After teaching for one year in Provo, SD she married Jack Brandsberg. They were later divorced.

The couple was blessed with four children. The family moved frequently, living from Washington State to Washington D.C. They had fun camping, canoeing and having new experiences. Dorothy said her family was the most important and enjoyable part of her life.

In 1967 the family settled in Olathe, KS. Dorothy received a Bachelor of Science degree from Mid America Nazarene College. She taught at Scarborough Elementary School. While teaching she also graduated with a Master Degree in Education. She loved the children as her own and was glad she had chosen teaching as a profession.

Dorothy returned to her "home town" of Spearfish in 1995. She became an avid quilter and reader. She loved coffee with the girls (old friends from high school) until her health (COPD) intervened.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Chris Lynn Brandsberg. She is survived by her children, John (Catherine) Brandsberg, Jill (Jeff) Pridgeon and Roxanne (Al) Nakamura and her grandchildren, Cameron, Nick and Bailey.

Respecting Dorothy's wishes there will be no services. Dorothy will be buried in the Rose Garden at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be directed to the Artemis House in Spearfish.
