Doris Joy Allbee Frasier Ketterling 87, of Spearfish, SD, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 27th, 2023, at Spearfish Canyon Healthcare.

Doris was born in Norbeck, SD on March 29th, 1936, to Nellie and Everett Allbee on the family ranch. She was the 8th child of 12. The family later moved to the Faulkton, SD area where Doris started working at a local cafe. While working at the café she met Donald Walter Frasier.

Donald and Doris married a few years later at the Catholic Church of Faulkton. They started their family soon after having six children together, four boys and two girls. While raising their family they travel to multiple states and areas of the country.  In 1964, they bought a farmhouse, and had it moved to Grant Street in Spearfish after traveling and exploring the country they settled back in Spearfish calling it home in 1982.

Don passed away in July of 1990 and Doris continued to live in Spearfish while working at East Elementary School as a custodian.

In 1991, she became re-acquainted with an old family friend named Elroy Ketterling at a local shop in Spearfish, they married the next summer in August of 1992.  After marrying Elroy, the couple moved to Java, SD in 1994 where Doris and one of her daughters ran the local Java Café for a few years. Doris enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and friends, and having her grandchildren and children visit when she would take them camping or fishing.

In 2011 Doris and Elroy returned to Spearfish to be closer to their children and grandchildren where they lived out the rest of their days together.

She is survived by her remaining children Larry Frasier, Judy (Ken) Noren, Brenda Moore, and Kevin (Jeanne) Frasier; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Don Frasier and Elroy Ketterling; her sons Rick Frasier and Mike Frasier.

Memorial services will be held at 9:00 am on July 28, 2023 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish.
