Little Dorrie was born, the second eldest child of 8, to Raymond and Mary (Emery) Gaugler on December 14th, 1943, in Elgin, ND. She died at home on July 18th, 2022; at the age of 78 in Aladdin, WY.

Doris married Joseph Rubus Sr. on  March 5, 1965, in Portland, OR.  They moved to Dearborn, Michigan, where they had two children, Beth and Joe Jr. She later divorced and married Paul Benoit on June 8, 1990. After Paul and Doris both retired from Ford Motor, they set off on their next adventure, moving to Aladdin, WY in an attempt to move closer to the family homestead south of New Leipzig, ND.

Her love of simple living kept her smiling while gardening, knitting, quilting, volunteering at church, Aladdin Homemakers, to name a few, and... scouring the aisles of her favorite Belle Fourche hot-spot , Robb's, for bargains…especially chocolate-chip cookies. A love of weaving kept her engaged in various weaving groups and helped others learn to weave and spin wool.

Doris is survived by her children, Beth Rubus and Joe (Nancy) Rubus, Jr; grandmother to Sean (Taylor) Suehr and Matthew Suehr, and great-grandmother to Bram Suehr;  siblings Roberta (Lloyd, deceased) Weber, Carol (Jesse) Farnsworth, Richard (Debbie) Gaugler, Roger (Ardella) Gaugler, Harold (Jodie) Gaugler, Elaine (Curt) Holen, and Scott (Beth) Gaugler and more loving nieces and nephews that you can shake a (spanking) stick at... she loved nothing more than laughing and recalling fun stories of the past, with family and friends.

A memorial luncheon will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche, SD.  A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Leipzig, ND all family and friends are welcomed to both services.
