Donna Maxine Trentz peacefully passed away on October 23, 2023, at the age of 89 in Edgewood Vista Memory Care Unit, Spearfish, South Dakota. She was born on July 2, 1934, to her parents, Mamie and William Labor, in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Donna was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, survived by her son, David Trentz; daughter, Terri Grosek; daughter, Kristen (Doug) Purcell and her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Donna had a fulfilling career as a teacher in the Lead/Deadwood School system before dedicating herself to being a loving stay-at-home mother. She was passionate about education and instilled a love for learning and reading in her children and students.
Outside of her professional life, Donna had a variety of interests and hobbies that brought her joy. She loved quilting and sewing, baking delicious treats, going for leisurely walks, and indulging in a good book. Donna also enjoyed playing bridge and was an active member of the PEO sisterhood.
Donna's faith was an important part of her life, and she found solace in saying the rosary nightly. She attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lead.
Vigil will begin at 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lead. Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 1, 2023, at the church. A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer of 2024 to honor Donna's memory. The funeral services will be graciously handled by the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel in Lead, South Dakota.
Donna will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warm smile, kind heart, and love for her family will forever be cherished. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
