Obituary

Donna Kay Bloedel, 67 of Spearfish SD passed away December 4, 2015 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital following a long and difficult illness. Services will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Fidler- Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish at 11:00 am burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Spearfish Masonic Center..

She was born September 25, 1948 in Deadwood, SD to Don & Connie Bloedel. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Dick & Pam Bloedel of Salome, AZ. Sister and brother-in-law Denise and Lou Castor of Sundance, WY. Nephews and nieces Aaron Bloedel from Denver, CO; Travis & Britta Bloedel and Max and Nico of Cave Creek, AZ; Chad & Lisa O'Dell James, Thadeus and Cheyanne of Lemon, SD; Lance and Kelli Bloedel and Tristan, Randi and Kale of Thermopolis, WY; JuRee Bloedel of Vista, CA; Charlie Castor and Preston and Gabe of Sundance WY; Carrie Castor and Nate, Kaleb and Alex of Belle Fourche, SD and Connie and Wes Tschetter and Karisa, Ryan and Alisha of Rapid City, SD. Aunt Kay Johnson of Bonny Lake, WA.

Donna graduated from Spearfish High School in 1966 and attended BHSU and then ND State School of Science studying Occupational Therapy. She worked as a traveling Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for many years and following her move to Colorado worked as a rural mail carrier in the Meeker, Colorado area before moving back to Spearfish.

She was a member of Queen City Chapter #89 – Spearfish, Matophaha Chapter #98 – Sturgis, OES; Aurora Rebekah Lodge #4 of Spearfish and Dakota Rebekah Lodge #1 of Lead and Spearfish Lodge # 25 – IOOF and Ismah Temple No. 119 Daughters of the Nile. She was an active and faithful member of each of these organizations and most recently served as President of the Rebekah Assembly of South Dakota 2014-2015 fulfilling a lifelong dream.

Her family was always foremost in her life – and was a devoted sister, aunt and niece. She was preceded in death by her parents Don and Connie Bloedel, grandparents Harold and Florence Kaiser and Clarence and Althea 'Dot' Robbins.
