Donna M Adkins, 81 of Spearfish, left to be with our Lord while in hospice care at her home in Spearfish, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, August 8, 2011. Her long courageous battle with cancer is over.
On the wings of a dove, another angel joined the choir above as our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister left this life. She will be sadly missed by the many lives she touched during her lifetime.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 Friday, August 12, 2011 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel of Spearfish, SD with Father Kerry Prendiville presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will go to Hospice of the Northern Hills and Lead-Deadwood Regional Foundation or Tough Enough to Wear Pink Foundation.
Donna Marie (Kies) Adkins was born August 3, 1930 at Alexandria, SD to Ed and Hattie (Sudbery) Kies. She attended school there and was united in marriage to the love of her life Harold C Adkins on September 29, 1946 in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. They later moved to Lead where Harold worked at Homestake Mining Co. and she was employed at St. Joseph's Hospital in Deadwood, and Black Hills Special Services in Pluma.
Donna made numerous lovely handmade guilt's for each of her family members during her lifetime and they will be cherished by all.
Donna and Harold were fortunate to spend 20 plus winters in Yuma, Arizona before moving back to Rapid City and later to Spearfish where they resided at the time her death.
Mourning her loss are her husband of 65 years, Harold of Spearfish; one son, William (Joanne) of Cody, Wyo.; four daughters Norma (David) Tesch of Sturgis, Connie (Paul) Kindsfater of Belle Fourche, Susan (Tim) Pinske of Fulton, SD and Laurie Adkins (Bob Skavang) of Boulder Canyon; 15 grandchildren, Erin, Josh, Chad, Kristi, Hilary, Corrie, Jered, Michael, Rachelle, Kass, Roy, Meghan, Caitlin, Eric and Shaun also 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayne (Kay) Kies of Pocatello, ID, three sisters, Lucene Carsten of Lead, Mary Jo (Wayne) Bertrand of Scotland and Barbara (Forrest) Conrad of Yankton, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters, one brother, two brothers-in laws and an infant granddaughter Amy Kindsfater.
In respect of our mom's wishes she will be cremated.
