Donald Dennis, 94, of Spearfish, SD died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Dorsett Regional Senior Care.

Graveside funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California.

Donald was born to William and Clara (Hall) Dennis January 25, 1915, in Long Beach CA. He attended school in Long Beach. He married Charline Giles on December 24, 1937 in Yuma, Arizona. The couple made their home in Bellflower, CA where Donald worked as a welder. Following retirement he taught welding in a local college. The couple moved to Spearfish, South Dakota in 1994 to be near their daughter, they moved to Lead in 2008 and then returned to Spearfish in 2009.

Donald enjoyed furthering his education his entire life. He also created many things from his skill in welding, including lamps and jewelry. His greatest joy was the time that he spent with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Charline of Spearfish, two daughters, Melody Dennis of Deadwood, SD, and Marilyn Cihonski of St. George, UT; one son, Victor Dennis of Acton, CA; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Rochelle Davis, one great grandchild, brother, Harold and three sisters; Mildred, Ada and Mary.
