Obituary
Donald "Don" L. Burdick, 64, Spearfish, SD, died unexpectedly Friday, August 17, 2007 at Ft. Meade VA Medical Facility.
Visitation will be from 2:00PM until 6:00PM on Sunday, August 19th 2007 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish, with prayer services beginning at 6:00PM.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, August 20th 2007 at Mountain View Baptist Church in Spearfish, with Pastor Hexon Maldonado officiating. Burial will be at 2:30PM at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD, and a luncheon will follow at Northern Hills Baptist Church in Spearfish.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to the Spearfish American Legion Post # 164.
Don was born on November 14, 1942 in Volga, SD, to William and Marie (Ringham) Burdick. He attended school in Arlington, SD. He served in the United States Navy AMS from 1961 until 1965 and is a Vietnam Veteran. Upon his discharge he returned to South Dakota and worked for the summer in Lemmon on his way to seek permanent employment in California. This is where he met Pearl Rott. The couple married on June 26, 1971 and to this union two children were born; Teri Lynn and Adam William. A special daughter Sheryl Ann joined their family in June of 1983.
Don worked at Wolff's Plumbing and Heating, which brought him to Spearfish. He worked for North Central Health Services and then returned to Wolff's where he remained until his medical retirement in 2004.
Don was a "take charge" man who always went above and beyond to help people. He was very well known throughout the community.
Don was a member of Spearfish American Legion, Spearfish Senior Center and the "Oreo" Club.
Don is survived by his loving wife Pearl Burdick of Spearfish, two daughters, Teri Burdick of Sioux Falls, SD, and Sheryl (Chad) Coley of Rapid City, SD, two grandchildren, Adam William and Erica Michelle, three sisters, Kitty (Duane) Johnson of Highmore, SD, Bernice Seitz of Artesian, SD, and Carol (Lloyd) Kessel of Spearfish, one brother, William "Bill" Burdick of Winner, SD and one sister-in-law, Mavis Kelly Burdick of Mobridge, SD.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Duane "Red" Burdick and Gerald "Bruno" Burdick, and his son Adam.
