She graduated from Mott High School in May 1959. For a short period of time after graduation, she worked at the local clothing store.

On November 25, 1961, she married her friend Irvin Hartman. From that union came four children, Scott, Greg, Sandra and Daniel. They had their fourth child in Mott and she worked for the local dentist office until June 1978 when the family moved to Spearfish, SD, where they have lived since.

Diane, Irvin, and their three sons, worked for Wolff's Plumbing and Heating, and eventually became owners. Diane worked there for 32 years. She loved spending time with family, kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. They all held a very special place in her heart.
