Dennis Hart, 80, of Gillette, WY and formerly of Sundance, WY passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Close to Home Hospice House in Gillette, WY.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Sundance United Methodist Church followed by burial at Green Mountain Cemetery, near Sundance.
Dennis was born April 5, 1936 in Rame, ND to Amos White and Ellen Catherine (Jestnes) Hart. He was one of five children. Dennis and his family traveled to various towns in North Dakota, and Wyoming before residing in Sundance, Wyoming, where his family established Hart Brother's Lumber. Dennis graduated from Sundance High School, and was drafted to the Army in 1954 serving two years. After being discharged from the service he attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming majoring in Business. Before finishing his degree, he met his soulmate Donna Marie Butterfield. The two were married July 7, 1962. From this union they had three children, Darren (Joleen) Hart, Damon (Alisha) Hart and Deedra Hart.
He is survived by his three children, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, his two brothers, Charles (Danean) and John, and his two sisters, Myrtle (Gerald) Kundy and Peggy (Don "Turtle") McConigly.
Dennis dedicated his career to power line construction with his business partner, Larry McLaughin, they owned and operated Champion Construction Company for over 30 years, before starting N.E.W Construction LLC with Robert Johnston until his retirement.
Dennis should be remembered doing the things he loved, camping, fishing, playing the stock market, eating a good steak, and enjoying life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Kathryn Thompson, and his wife.
In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family has established a memorial to Close to Home Hospice, PO BOX 3318 Gillette, WY 82717.
