IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dennis
Crow
January 20, 1952 – January 8, 2022
Dennis Crow 69, of Upton, WY died on January 8, 2022, in Jamestown, ND after a tragic auto accident.
Dennis Crow was born in Redding, California, in 1952, the youngest of Arthur and Anna Crow's six children. An avid sportsman and outdoorsman, Dennis went to high school in Central Valley, California, where he played football; he later studied fire science at Shasta College. He excelled as a firefighter, becoming part of the hotshot crew "Shasta Bigfoots" out of Redding, and was flown all over the U.S. to combat devastating blazes.
After leaving Redding, Dennis moved to Bend, Oregon, where he became a skilled concrete finisher – his career for more than 20 years in Oregon, Redding, and the Bay Area. In 1981 he became reacquainted with Katrin, a longtime friend from Redding, and found his partner in life. Dennis and Katrin were the loves of each other's lives, sharing a passion for travel and adventure.
Spurred by a desire to see more of the U.S., Dennis changed careers and became a long-haul truck driver. He and Katrin teamed for a year as drivers for Swift and U.S. Express, where they could be together while journeying all over the United States. In 1994, Dennis and Katrin learned that they were about to receive their biggest blessing – their son. Dennis Daniel was born in 1995, curtailing Katrin's travels but bringing immense joy. The family settled in Manteca, California, where Dennis drove for Safeway until his 2012 retirement. After retirement, Dennis, Katrin, and Dennis D. moved to La Pine, Oregon.
In 2021, with Dennis Daniel in college, Dennis and Katrin decided it was time for another adventure. They moved to Upton, Wyoming, where Dennis fell in love with the breathtaking scenery and wide-open spaces.
While taking his son back to college in Minnesota, Dennis passed away after being involved in an auto accident. While our hearts are broken, we're comforted by the knowledge that Dennis is with the Lord he so loved and served while on this earth.
Dennis's faith in God was unwavering. He didn't view faith and religion as formalities. Rather, he expressed his devotion to Jesus in service to others, teaching Bible study, cooking meals for fellowship, serving as a Deacon, and reaching out to connect with others.
Dennis was an extraordinary man, father, husband, brother, friend – and cook. He inspired those around him with his love of the outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, skiing, and even baseball, coaching an Oregon women's team and taking them to the state championship. Those who love him most will remember his winning smile, contagious laugh, and infectious sense of humor.
Visitation will be from 12-2 PM on Thursday, January 20 at the Upton Community Center, 916 Ash Street, Upton WY. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM with burial following at Greenwood Cemetery in Upton. A reception will immediately follow the burial.
Dennis is survived by his wife of over 36 years, Katrin Marie Crow, daughter Andrea (Brian) Giguere, son Dennis D. Crow, grandchildren Brianna Nyman and Jeffrey Giguere, sister Nancy (Rich) Lingham, brothers Arthur (Virginia) Crow and Claude (Margaret) Crow, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
