Dennace Welch, 67 of Lead, SD passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Lead-Deadwood Regional Hospital surrounded by family.
Denny was born April 16th 1943 in Scottsbluff, NE; the son of William and Isabel Welch. While attending Hawk Springs High School, he met the love of his life, Mick Kunesh, after graduating they were married on November 26th 1961. Denny and Mick left Wyoming in 1967 with their three children and moved to Lead where they made their home in Nevada Gulch for the next 40 years. Denny worked for Homestake Mine for 37 years and also maintained his own plumbing business. He will be remembered for his hard work and generosity to all. Denny enjoyed being around family and friends, he enjoyed working with his hands in many different aspects, but his main passion was his fishing. He will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
Denny is survived by his daughters, Denise Welch of Lead and Danelle (Jamie) Gerbracht of Prairie City, SD, son, Darrin Welch of Rapid City, SD, special niece, Julie Stevenson and special nephew, Jeff Stevenson both of Rapid City, grandchildren; Cody Gerbracht, Alyssa Gerbracht, Natasha Welch-Gerbracht and Terri Welch-Kempf, three sisters, Ardith (George) Schwendeman of Auburn, WA, Linda Miller of Casper, WY and Janice Hinzman of Rapid City, two brothers, Dean (Brenda) Welch and Joe (Melinda) Welch both of Casper and many extended family members and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mick, and infant son, Dennace George Welch Jr., his parents and mother-in-law and father-in-law.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00, Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel in Lead with Pastor Steve Agan officiating.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
