Deloris Fuerst, Spearfish SD, passed away July 11, 2025, at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living, Spearfish SD.
A Funeral service will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Spearfish. Burial will follow at 12:30PM, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Deloris Marie Fuerst was born July 2, 1927, daughter to Solomon and Pauline (Koenig) Fuerst in Wessington Springs, SD. She attended Wessington Springs High School. Deloris married Rudolf Fuerst, October 27, 1946. They farmed until 1953, before moving to Huron, SD where they raised their four children. Leaving Huron in 1979, living in Mandan, ND and Albuquerque, NM, before settling in Spearfish in 1981. Deloris and Rudy were married nearly 70 years when he passed in August of 2016.
Deloris worked for Huron Public Schools as a cook at Madison Elementary for eight years. She joined Rudy as a notions salesperson for IKO. Then as a housekeeper for Spearfish Regional Hospital for 10 years retiring in 2000.
Deloris was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church, serving as a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She enjoyed the quilting guild and alter preparations. She also enjoyed time with her family, sewing and baking.
Deloris is survived by her children Diana (Rowland) Hinkle, Rio Rancho NM, Eileen (Mike) Weddel, Fort Meyers FL, Shirley (Larry) Deibert, Minot, ND, and Alan Fuerst, Spearfish SD; seven grandchildren;13 great-grandchildren; and sister Twila (Merlin) Winter, Rochester MN.
Deloris is preceded in death by her husband Rudolf Fuerst, her parents Solomon and Pauline Fuerst, three brothers Melvin, Russell and Lesile Fuerst, and great-grandson Owen Allison.
