Deloras Rachel Heinrich, 93 of Spearfish went home to her Lord on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at her residence at Tuk R Inn Assisted Living where she as resided for the past six years.
Visitation will be from 5:30-7 PM on Thursday, January 7 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Funeral services will be at 11:00am, Friday, January 8, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Spearfish, with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to benefit St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Deloras was born September 12, 1922, to Arthur W. and Elvira O. (Hendrikson) Heinrich, at Ola, in Brule County, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Ola. She graduated from the eighth grade in the Keiner School near Ola. She attended Chamberlain High School, graduating in 1940. In 1941, she attended Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for one year. She worked as a stenographer in Sioux Falls for ten years in the State Department of Public Welfare. Deloras then attended Black Hills State College in Spearfish. She moved to Hot Springs and again worked as a stenographer for the State Department of Public Welfare for sixteen years. Following health reasons, Deloras retired from stenography and moved back to Spearfish and worked at the Valley Café for fourteen years. While in Spearfish, Deloras was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Deloras loved her church and family. She enjoyed volunteer work for the Lutheran church, gardening, letter writing, walking, reading, travel and enjoyed the Black Hills. In her later years, she was a Spearfish Passion Play volunteer. She thoroughly enjoyed a trip to the Hendrikson ancestral home in Norway. Visiting Hendrikson family reunions was a special joy for her.
Deloras is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Verna Bode and niece, Joyce Gaines. She is survived by her nephews, James Bode, Rosalia, KS and John D. Bode, Augusta, KS; nieces, Lana Murphy, Wichita, KS and Linda Knott, Marysville, KS; her great and great-great nieces and nephews and numerous beloved Hendrikson extended family members.
Aunt Deloras received such loving care at Tuk R Inn Assisted Living in Spearfish. The family would also like to thank Pastor Bauman and the kind members of St, Paul Lutheran Church, her beloved church family.
