IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Debra Jean
Martz
July 7, 1959 – January 30, 2024
Debra Jean Martz, 64 of Lead, SD died on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at her home.
Debra was born on July 7, 1959 in Deadwood, SD and was the only daughter to Howard R. Bridenstine and Marilyn J. Bridenstine. Debra "Deb, Debbie, or Debbers" as people called her, was raised in the Lead/Deadwood area and lived there her whole life.
On January 28, 1981 during one of Lead's snowstorms, Deb met the love of her life, Michael B. Martz at her dad's birthday party. They were married in Lead on November 28, 1982, which also happened to be Michael's birthday so that way neither would ever forget their anniversary. Deb was so excited about marrying the love of her life , she would always talk about how she married in her mom's wedding dress, but how she added her own personal touch and making her own wedding flowers. It always brought a smile to her face when she talked about this and that they couldn't wait to start having children and a life together.
Deb was blessed to have welcomed her first child, a daughter, Michelle on February 8, 1984, then welcomed their second child, a son, Jeremiah on April 12, 1985. The couple had their final child, a son, Jacob on August 21, 1986. Deb was overjoyed to be a mother and after Jacob was born, she decided to give it her all as being a stay-at-home wife and mother. Deb was then over the moon when her first grandchild was born, Avyona on October 6, 2010, Deb became a nanny to her while her parents worked and that developed a special bond between them. Deb loved dressing her up and when they would watch tv together Avyona always had to rub on her Nanna's rings, so Deb always had to make sure she wore them all the time.
Deb was the type of person that if anyone needed help or someone to talk to, she would be right there for you without judgment to lend a helping hand or to just listen in your time of need. Anyone who knew Deb knew that she loved anything that sparkled whether it be jewelry , rocks, clothes, she loved it all. Deb also loved going on long rides with her husband and listening to music or just talking. She always called them her adventures and they would just drive for hours. Deb always liked to have a good time whenever she was around family and friends.
Deb is survived by her husband, Michael of Lead, her daughter, Michelle (Tyreek), her sons, Jeremiah Martz (Cathy) and Jacob (Anna) Martz both of Lead, mother, Marilyn Bridenstine of Lead, brothers, Dennis (Nancy) Bridenstine and Dan (Renee) Bridenstine both of Lead and four grandchildren; Avyona, Isiah, Aliannah and Elijah
Deb was preceded in death by her dad, Howard "Howie" Bridenstine, her in-laws, Bernhard (Emma) Martz
