November 11, 1928 – August 31, 2022
Verylin (Dean) Wright, 93, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Weston County Health Services Manor in Newcastle, WY.
Dean was born to Nora and Dean Wright in Tarkio, Missouri on November 11, 1928. The family moved to the Newcastle area in 1937. Dean attended school until the eighth grade, and then went to work, which included various jobs extending from the family farm and a threshing crew to mixing flour for Toomey's Mill in Newcastle. Dean enlisted in the United States Navy in January 1946 and served during World War II until he was honorably discharged on December 8, 1947.
Once back home in Newcastle, Dean worked for Sioux Refinery, where he met the love of his life, Mary (Midge) Ellen Stracke. He and Midge married on February 15, 1953, and welcomed five children into the world together. In 1976, Dean was recruited to work for Tesoro Refining in Kenai, Alaska for a few years before retiring and moving back to Newcastle in 1986.
Dean enjoyed the simple things of life, taking time for his family, gardening, decorating his yard during various seasons, hunting, playing cards, and driving around. His home hosted many family holiday dinners, and he enjoyed attending the birthdays, graduations, and other life events of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. "He was the best P-Pa ever!"
