David Hilding Stonefelt, 79, of Nemo, SD passed away on March 14, 2026, after a brief battle with a rare aggressive cancer.

Dave was born to Elvi and Hilding Stonefelt on May 25, 1946, in Deadwood, SD. He grew up in Lead, SD graduating from Lead High School in 1964. “Stoney” worked as a machinist for Homestake Mining Company for over thirty years.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie (Dahlberg); daughter Laurie (Mike) Sliper, grandkids Nick and Madelyn; son Michael (Kristy) Stonefelt, grandkids Abigail, Ty, and Jack; and sister Eleanor Lawton. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Karen Litz.

Memorial services will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lead on Thursday, March 19 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to an organization of your choice that benefits children.
