David G. Hosman, 57, of Whitewood, SD and formerly of Pierre, died Monday, September 29, 2008 at Spearfish Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30A.M., Monday, October 6, 2008 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish with Chaplain Moe Greiner officiating. Burial with full military honors will take place at 12:00PM at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to benefit the Fort Meade VA Medical Center, 113 Comanche Rd. Fort Meade, SD 57749.

David was born August 19, 1951 in Pierre to Francis "Fritz" and Ruby (Lofgren) Hosman. He was raised in Pierre and graduated from T.F. Riggs High School in May of 1969. He then joined the United States Navy in July of 1969, serving on a ship off the coast of Vietnam from 1970-1972.

Survivors include four sons; David (Juli) Hosman of Sioux Falls, Steve Hosman of West Virginia, Mathew (Cassie) Hosman of Sioux Falls, Cody Hosman of Pierre, four daughters; Carrie (Robert) Nichols of Rapid City, Sandy (Levi) Christman of Rapid City, Cathy (Luke) Haddock of North Carolina and Stacy Hosman of Pierre, 12 grandchildren, four sisters; Shirley Ryan of Sioux Falls, Phyllis Jaeger of Sioux Falls, Mary (David) Harding of Sparks, NV, Karen (Curt) DeWall of DeSoto, TX and four brothers; Donald (Ellen) Hosman of Pierre, Dale (Vicki) Hosman of Topeka, KS, Dan Hosman of Pierre and Dean Hosman of Sioux Falls.

David was preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents, Harry and Elizabeth Hosman & August and Esther Lofgren.
