Obituary

David Boice Eaves (78) of Spearfish, SD went to rest with the Lord on Tuesday, November 25th, 2025.

David was born in Miami, AZ on August 30th, 1947, to Almon Eaves and Billie Cooper Eaves. They soon moved to Grants, NM where David grew up. David was to meet his high school sweetheart, Sandra Griffey, and they married shortly after graduating. To this union was born two sons, James David Eaves and Justin Dean Eaves.

David joined the US Air Force and served as an aircraft mechanic from 1966-1970. When David completed his line of duty, he began working as a hard rock miner in a uranium mine in Grants, NM from 1970-1981. David made a move to Creed, CO and worked as a silver miner from 1981-1985. In 1986 David and Sandra made the decision to move to SD where David began working as a Gold Miner at the Homestake Gold Mine.

David became a widower and a single father after losing Sandra to cervical cancer in 1993. They were married for 28 wonderful years. In 2001, David made the decision to leave Homestake and began mining at Stillwater platinum mine in MT and remained there until retirement in 2017. David was a hard rock miner for 47 years.

In 2009 David remarried to Lorraine (Lorrie) Wahl, and together they blended their family of six children and 13 grandchildren. When David wasn't working you could find him out at the lake fishing for walleye, hard at work in his garden, or out camping with family. David also loved watching his football and maintaining his lawn. Family was always important to him, and his grandchildren meant the world to him. He is dearly missed.

David is survived by his wife, Lorraine Eaves, his sons Justin Eaves and James (Kayla) Eaves, his stepchildren Daniel and Matthew Forget, Cherie (Gary) Bowers, Renee (Ted) Veale, and 13 grandchildren.
