David Dirksen, 77, died September 18, 2011 at Lead-Deadwood Regional Hospital, Deadwood, SD.

Memorial services will be 1 PM, Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel, Lead, SD.

David Dirksen was born in Lead, SD August 28, 1934 to Henry and Zorka Dirksen. He attended Catholic School and graduated from Lead High School. He attended Black Hills State University where he met and married Delores Anderson. They had 3 children, Steve, Mike and Julie. They lived in Lead where he worked at Homestake Gold Mine. Delores passed away in 1963.

He met Barbara Fager and they were married in 1977 and combined their families to include Cathy, Jamie and Jerry where they all continued to live in Lead. Since then we have been one family.

Dave worked in several professions throughout his life that included gaming, plumbing, substitute teaching, later in life he obtained a paralegal degree.

Dave was working at First Gold Casino as a cashier until his retirement in 2010.

He is survived by his sons, Michael (Zenaida) Dirksen, Midwest City, OK; Jerry (Tiffany) Fager, Gillette, WY; daughters, Julie Fiester, Deadwood, SD; Cathy (Jim) Davison, Salt Lake City, UT; Jamie (Keith) Bracht, Rapid City, SD and 12 grandchildren.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Delores; his second wife, Barbara; and his son, Steve.
