Obituary

Briscoe, David L., 79, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011 in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born September 16, 1931 in Coal Spring, South Dakota to Joe and Maude (Harris) Briscoe.

David grew up on a farm in South Dakota and worked as a farm hand. He began his career as a miner in Lead, SD, Hulett, Wyoming, and Grants, NM before working for the Department of Labor as a Federal Mine Inspector in Rolla, Missouri and Oklahoma. He had many hills to climb, but his greatest joy was his grandson, Kyle Patino.

David is survived by his wife, LaVerne Briscoe of Norman; one son, Rudy Patino and wife Kay of Norman; two sisters, Dorothy Eliason of Gettysburge, SD and Josephine Boyer of Spearfish, SD; one grandson, Kyle Patino of Norman; many nieces and nephews; and granddogs, Ally, Lilly, and Chaos. He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Joseph, Dale, Jack and Bill Briscoe; and three sisters, Irene, Anna and Alice.

Funeral services will be held 5:30 P.M., Thursday, January 13, 2011 in the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home. Visitation will be held in Spearfish on Monday, January 17, 2011 from 1-7p.m. at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel. Interment will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in the Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD.
