David E. Abell, 48, of Spearfish, SD and a past resident of Elkhorn, WI, died at Rapid City Regional Hospital on December 2, 2012, after a long illness.

David was born December 3, 1963 in Edgerton, WI; he was the son of Wallace and Claritta (Peck) Abell. David graduated from Elkhorn High School in 1982. He studied nursing at Gateway Technical College right after high school and worked for many years at Holton Manor Nursing Home in Elkhorn. He then worked at NPC in Lake Geneva for a short time, and spent the remaining years in Elkhorn working at Elkhorn Webpress. David married his high school sweetheart, Donna Swan, on November 5, 1983. They were together for 30 years.

He was always an avid hunter and fisherman and had a passion for the outdoors, wrestling and crime dramas.

David is survived by his parents Wallace and Claritta Abell of Elkhorn, WI; his brother Dan (Jane) Abell of Delavan, WI; his son Mason (Jessica) Abell of Spearfish, SD; and one granddaughter, Paige Abell of Spearfish.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM on December 17, 2012, at All Angels Episcopal Church in Spearfish, SD.
