Darlene Speidel, 81 of Sundance, WY died Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Crook County Memorial Nursing Home in Sundance.
Visitation will be from 2-4 Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel in Sundance.
Funeral services will be at 10:30am, Monday, August 29, 2016 at the Sundance United Methodist Church, burial will follow at Green Mountain Cemetery near Sundance.
Darlene J. (Seeley) Speidel was born February 8, 1935 to Claude E 'Todd' and Hazel Seeley near Sundance. Darlene was born on the family ranch and spent her life within a few miles of her birth. She attended Medicine Flats Country Schools through the 7th grade, and then attended Sundance High School. She married Theodore 'Ted' Speidel, August 27, 1951. They made their home in Sundance where they raised their four children; Susan, Terry, Michael and Trudy. She loved her family, flowers, gardening and playing games. Ted and Darlene owned the Hiway Service Phillips 66 station where Darlene kept the books.
Darlene was proud of being an identical twin and growing up with her sister, Arlene. At 42, she was diagnosed with leukemia and received a life-saving bone-marrow transplant from her twin, after learning of the procedure from a Newsweek article.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and brothers, David and Tommy.
She is survived by her children; Susan (Bob) Gerkin of Nisland, SD, Terry (Joyce) Speidel of Sundance, Michael (Sherrie) Speidel of Roca, NE and Trudy (Roy) Castle of Gillette, WY; sisters, Arlene Tenke of Sundance and Donna Carl of Hanford, CA and brother, Ted Seeley of Phoenix, AZ, grandchildren; Jennifer Tuomela, John Gerkin, Miranda Biley, Rusty Speidel, Bruce Speidel, Joshua Speidel, Jared Speidel, Nathan Speidel, Shawn Speidel, Danielle Huseby and Nicole Amiotte and 19 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel of Sundance.
