Daniel G. Sandford, 42, of Spearfish, SD passed away on October 21, 2016 in Spearfish.
He was born in Devils Lake, ND to Dean and Deborah Sandford. The family moved to Spearfish when Dan was 4. He started working in the woods with his Dad at age 9 where he developed a love for timber management. In 8th grade, Dan's entrepreneurial spirit kicked in when he started his own firewood business which evolved into a thriving timber management company.
In 1998, Dan met the love of his life, Lynn. They both knew it was fate and they were destined to be together. They were joined in marriage in 2004. Their family was complete when they welcomed their beautiful children, son, Jayce in 2006 and daughter, Sierra in 2008.
Dan lived an active life. He loved camping, boating, skiing, biking and fishing with his friends and family. He consciously created meaningful memories with Lynn, his kids and friends and family.
Dan's passion for sports was shared by his wife and kids as they spent numerous hours bonding over soccer, football and gymnastics.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn; son, Jayce; daughter, Sierra; parents, Dean and Deborah of Spearfish, SD; siblings, Virgie of Waco, TX; Heidi (Shawn) of Rapid City, SD; Mike (Jessica) of Beulah, WY; Julie (Thomas) of Spearfish, SD; Andrew (Brea) of Spearfish, SD; Steven of Spearfish, SD and grandmother, Lucy of Fargo, ND.
Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Spearfish City Park. There will be a Celebration of Life by the creek followed by a reception at the Spearfish City Park Pavilion. In lieu of flowers or cards, anyone wishing to may make a donation to Jayce and Sierra's college trust fund at Black Hills Federal Credit Union in Spearfish, SD.
