Daniel Paul Island, 71, passed away peacefully in his grandparent's home in Beulah, WY, on Monday, 12 September, 2016. According to his wishes, Dan was surrounded by his loved ones and listening to his favorite hymn when he went to rest with the Lord.
Dan was born 30 July, 1945 in Deadwood, SD to Clifford and Minnie (Tauck) Island. He was a darling of the Black Hills. Though his careers varied from outlaw to Director of the Cornerstone Rescue Mission, everything he did he did with heart. He was known for being loving, funny, and generous. He began his life as a man of the people and he ended his life as a man of God.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret (Island) Mace; brother, Frank Island and great-grandson, Elijah Colston. He is survived by his sister, Terri (Island) McDowell; four daughters, Karen Graeve, Danielle Walling, Judith Landsea and Catherine Island; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was a beloved father, grandfather, uncle and friend.
Memorial services will be held at Hills View Evangelical Free Church, 13776 Sturgis Rd, Piedmont, SD on Saturday, 17 September, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Dan will be buried in the Beulah Cemetery, Beulah.
