Obituary

Dale Mills, 96 of Sundance, WY, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ, Wednesday, November 27, 2013, from his home on the family ranch 1313 State Highway 116, Sundance WY.

Dale Mills was born March 29, 1917 in Sterling CO, to Ralph E. and Laura J. Mills.

When Dale was three weeks old the family arrived by immigrant car, to the area south of Gillette, currently known as the Highlight area. As a child Dale attended the Lawver School and kept busy on the family homestead with daily chores helping with the raising of sheep, fencing, farming and general ranch work. As he got older he and his brother Ralph developed a talent for horses, which landed them a job at the Keeline Ranch breaking and riding horses.

Dad loved telling the story of courting "The Love of His Life" Edith M. Broyles. They were united in marriage on March 11, 1939, Edith's family homesteaded was to the north of the Mills.
Dale and Edith raised and herded sheep, living in a sheep wagon their first year of marriage, they then moved into a two room home working with Dale's father and brothers ranching, raising sheep, and eight children.

The spring of 1957 the family moved to the ranch east of Gillette and lived there for 16 years. In 1974 Dale saw his dreams come true when he and Edith bought the ranch south of Sundance, at the foot of the beautiful Inyan Kara Mountain. Dale became quite proficient in the area of horse breeding, raising an American Quarter Horse with savvy, conformation and athletic ability, this gave him great pride.

Dale was also a generous man. If he heard of a 4-H kid needing a horse, they didn't need for long, as he was there to the rescue.

As the folks got older they wintered in El Centro, California with lifelong friends, Earl and Mildred Boller.
