It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we grieve the passing of our father, Curtis Ness, who left us on November, 16, 2025, after courageously battling illness for many years. He was born in Spearfish on May 10, 1972, to Norvan and Carol Ness, who survive him and continue to cherish his memory.
Curtis was a bright, funny, and quick-witted soul—someone who could fill a room with laughter and make even an ordinary moment feel like something special. He had a gift for storytelling, for jokes, and for bringing people together. His friends knew him as a reliable man who would do anything for them, and as someone who could be counted on for a good laugh and good company.
After graduating from technical school, Curtis worked a variety of skilled labor jobs as a mechanic, electrician, and handyman, always taking pride in learning new things and doing his work to his own impeccable standards. He eventually found his calling as a professional driver, a job that suited his love of travel, independence, and the quiet rhythm of the open road.
He is survived by his parents, his brother Clifford Ness (Geri), uncle Craig Ness (Becky), uncle Larry Capp (Penny), aunt Linda Lester, aunt Dorothy Hilburn (Allen), children Jacob Ness, Jordan Ness, and Daniel Ness; four grandchildren, Sean, Quincy, Mesa, and Blu.
He was preceded in death by his infant son Zachery Ness and his uncle Bruce Ness.
Though his journey was difficult in the final years, Curtis faced every challenge with strength and resilience. We take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, free from pain, and surrounded by the love of those who went before him. We will miss Curtis more than words can express, we will carry his love with us always.
Services will be held on November 25, 2025, at 1:00pm at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Inurnment of cremated remains will take place at a later date.
Those wishing to remember Curtis in a special way are invited to make a contribution to a charity of their choosing.
