July 21, 1926 – August 19, 2023
Clifford R. (Ki) Caserio of Lead, SD passed away on August 19, 2023 at Ft. Meade VA Medical Center. Clifford was born on July 21, 1926 to Dominic and Victoria (Miglia) Caserio. He was the 13th child and the baby of the family. He attended Lead High School until he was drafted on November 28, 1944. Clifford served in the Navy as a Machinist Mate 3rd Class until July 9, 1946, receiving an Honorable Discharge. He returned to Lead and graduated high school in 1947. Clifford began working at Homestake Mining Company on February 5, 1947, and retired on August 8, 1988. Clifford married Maxine on August 30, 1947. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary last year! Ki was a member of St. Patrick's Church, a lifetime member of VFW Post 5969 of Deadwood, and a member of Dakota Territory Federal Credit Union Board for 18 years. Ki was a caregiver to his family and many of his relatives and his best friend. He loved to put up his nativity scene at Christmas like his mother always did. Many people came to see it. He was also an avid hunter, enjoying his last hunt at the age of 80.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine, son, Clifford M., and wife, Beverly, grandaughters, Amanda Buchholz, (Mike) and their children, Steven, Hailey, Myah and Amara of Lead; Victoria (Dom) Mirocke and their children, Jackson and Grayson of Arkansas and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by twelve siblings and his parents.
Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:00 am, Monday, August 28, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lead.
A memorial has been established to benefit VFW Post #5969 in Deadwood.
Arrangements are under the care of the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel.
